This paddle is deceptive, lightweight but has a punch and plenty of control when you want it.
I’ve only been playing for about a month, but coming from a tennis background, it’s been pretty easy to pick up. I tested a bunch of demo paddles, but the Aero-X really stood out with its soft touch and excellent control. Right now, I’m not too focused on power, but it definitely has enough to land some solid serves. I’m excited to stick with this brand for the long haul!
I’ve been playing pickleball for nearly a year and have tried a variety of paddles from big brands like Gearbox, Selkirk, and Joola. Over time, I’ve experimented with different paddles to suit specific needs—for example, using a control paddle on high-energy days for precision and a more powerful paddle when I’m feeling less energetic.
What drew me to the Holbrook Aero X Pro was its innovative Dynamic Weight Technology, which eliminates the need for lead tape. This not only enhances performance but also keeps the paddle looking clean and sleek.
I prefer lightweight paddles under 8 oz, and the Aero X Pro strikes the perfect balance for me. Its weight, combined with its well-thought-out design, makes it a versatile and comfortable option for players seeking both control and power.
However, the one downside was that the website didn’t provide a warning about potential duty taxes for Canadian buyers. I was hit with a surprise $110 CAD duty fee from UPS upon delivery. Had I known this in advance, I likely would have reconsidered my purchase.
While the paddle itself is excellent, I’d recommend Holbrook to improve transparency about additional costs for international customers.
